1. Empty the box: Make sure to remove all items from the inside of the box. 

2. Remove packing materials: Take out any other nonrecyclable packing materials. 

3. Flatten the box: Fold or break down the box so it is completely flat to save space in your bin and for efficient transport. 

4. Check for cleanliness: Ensure the cardboard is clean and dry, as greasy or wet cardboard cannot be recycled. 

5. Remove tape and labels: Take off any excess tape or large labels from the box if any. 

6. Place in recycling bin or your recycling facility. Put the flattened, clean cardboard into your household recycling bin. 

7. Consider a recycling centre: If you do not have household recycling bin, you may want to take it to a local recycling centre or civic amenity site.
